Alyssa Valdez is back on national team duty as she headlines the 20-woman pool that will make up Alas Pilipinas' lineup for the 2026 AVC Women's Cup to be held next month in Candon City, Ilocos Sur. The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) announced the pool on Tuesday as Valdez lead a mix of veterans and newcomers for the new-look Alas. The 32-year-old Valdez will be joined by her Creamline teammates Kyle Negrito, Kyla Atienza, and Tots Carlos as well as fellow PVL stars in Ces Molina, Honey Royse Tubino, Trisha Tubu, Jov Gonzaga, Alyssa Eroa, Thea Gagate, and Cloanne Mondoñedo. Valdez could also get her dream team-up with Ara Galang, who is also included in the pool. Several collegiate stars are also listed with Lhouriz Tuddao of Adamson, Niña Ytang of UP, and the FEU troika of Tin Ubaldo, Jaz Ellarina, and Clarisse Loresco making the pool cut. Lara Mae Silva, Vanessa Sarie, and Nat Estreller of Letran have also been included just months after helping Colegio de San Juan de Letran capture the NCAA title in Season 101. Alas will play Chinese Taipei, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Australia, and Uzbekistan in Pool A while Pool B consists of consists of Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Iran, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Lebanon.—Bea Micaller/JMB, GMA News
