Mamelodi Sundowns fans arrived early and stayed late on Monday evening to welcome home their team, who recently captured the CAF Champions League title.
Congregating at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the Yellow Nation sang and danced the night away as they awaited the arrival of the newly crowned continental champions via a chartered flight from Rabat, Morocco. Independent Media photojournalist Oupa Mokoena was there to capture the joy and elation of the Brazilians' supporters.
Earlier this week, on Sunday, Sundowns drew 1-1 with AS Rabat in the second leg of the final to win the Champions League 2-1 on aggregate. They had won the first leg at Loftus Versfeld 1-0 a week earlier.
A thunderous strike from Teboho Mokoena was enough to secure the draw and win the title in Morocco. Sundowns will now add a second star to their shirt to acknowledge their second African title, after they had previously won the continent's most prestigious tournament in 2016.
