The Kia Tigers announced Tuesday they have waived their struggling Australian shortstop Jarryd Dale.
Dale was signed as the Tigers' Asian quota player for this season. In 34 games, Dale batted .256 with a home run and six RBIs, while also making nine errors, the most in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).
The Tigers sent him down to the minors on May 11. Dale had been batting .364 in six games there, but the Tigers still didn't find room for him.
Dale had a strong start to his first KBO season, recording a hit in each of his first 15 games — the second longest such streak for a foreign-born hitter in league history.
