TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Saudi Arabia's position on the Palestinian issue remains unchanged, a Saudi source told Al Arabiya television on Monday, May 25, 2026.The source affirmed the need for "an irreversible pathway to a Palestinian state."The statement came after US President Donald Trump urged Muslim-majority countries and regional states to normalize relations with Israel and join the Abraham Accords. In a social media post, Trump said leaders from several countries had discussed ending the war with Iran. The US leader added that countries discussing ending the war should, "at a minimum," simultaneously sign the agreements."I am mandatorily requesting that all Countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that, if Iran signs its Agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an Honor to have them also be part of this unparalleled World Coalition," he said, as quoted from The Straits Times. The Abraham Accords, brokered by the US in 2020 during Trump's first term as US president, resulted in the normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries.Saudi Arabia has repeatedly said it will not normalize relations with Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state.Read: Trump Links Iran Deal to Expansion of Abraham AccordsClick here to get the latest news updates from Tempo on Google News
