The Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee has unveiled an elaborate cultural, security and economic plans for the 2026 Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar Celebration, with organisers promising a world-class festival that will showcase the rich heritage and diversity of the ancient emirate.

Speaking to Arewa PUNCH in Ilorin on Monday, the Chairman of the Committee, Engr. Suleiman Alapansanpa said the 2026 edition of the Durbar would be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Kwara Baseball Park, Adewole, Ilorin.

Alapansanpa explained that the theme of the celebration, “Prosperity in Diversity,” reflects the historical coexistence of various ethnic and cultural groups within Ilorin Emirate over several centuries.

He stressed that the Emirate remained a symbol of unity where Fulani, Yoruba, Nupe, Baruba, Hausa, Kanuri, Gobirawa and other communities had continued to live peacefully while contributing to the growth and prosperity of the city.

“The theme captures the very essence of Ilorin itself. For centuries, Ilorin has stood as a remarkable meeting point of civilisations, cultures, languages, scholarship, and commerce,” Alapansanpa said.
