At least 12 civilians were injured after Russian forces dropped two aerial bombs on central Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region on Monday evening, May 25, Regional Military Administration head Vadym Filashkin said. The strike damaged multiple apartment buildings and vehicles. Injured civilians are receiving medical assistance, while emergency and rescue services continue working at the scene. “The search-and-rescue operation is ongoing,” he said. Authorities are still determining the final number of casualties and the full extent of the destruction.
Earlier on Monday, Ukraine’s Air Force said air defenses shot down or suppressed 246 Russian drones during a large-scale overnight attack. According to the Air Force, Russia launched 262 drones starting from the evening of May 24, including Shahed attack drones, decoy drones and jet-powered UAVs from multiple directions inside Russia and occupied Crimea. The attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, drone defense systems and mobile fire groups. The Air Force said impacts from 10 attack drones were recorded across nine locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at seven locations. On May 24, Russia launched 600 drones and 90 missiles in the assault, including an Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile. This is the third time Russia has used the weapon against Ukraine, which struck Bila Tserkva, roughly 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Kyiv. At least four people were killed, and nearly 100 were injured across the country.
