President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International FC on winning the Nigeria Premier Football League title for a record ninth time, commending the Enugu-based club for finishing top of the 2024/2025 season with 68 points from 38 matches.
In a statement on Monday signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the club’s managers, players, and supporters for securing the title ahead of closest rivals Rivers United, while also highlighting the team’s historic legacy in Nigerian and African football.
Tinubu recalled Rangers’ dominance in the 1970s and 1980s, including their league and FA Cup successes, as well as continental achievements such as reaching the 1975 African Cup of Champions Clubs final and winning the 1977 African Cup Winners’ Cup.
The President also linked the club’s latest success to governance efforts in Enugu State, commending Governor Peter Mbah for supporting sports development.
