According to the police, the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) following investigations into allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, administering suspected harmful substances, malicious damage to property, and theft.
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a chef, identified as John Cosmos Govi, over an alleged plot involving the drugging of residents and the theft of luxury items valued at about ₦150million from a residence in Abuja.
According to the police, the arrest was carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) following investigations into allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, administering suspected harmful substances, malicious damage to property, and theft.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, the police said preliminary findings showed that the suspect had reportedly undergone catering training in Cotonou, Benin Republic, before gaining employment as a chef in the residence targeted in the operation.
The statement noted that Govi allegedly established contact with two accomplices identified simply as Peter and Moses, who are currently at large, before carrying out the operation on April 23, 2026.
