Fresh fears have gripped residents of Tangaram Village in Kebbi State after 13 villagers were reportedly abducted by armed bandits who launched a midnight assault on the community in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
The attackers were said to have invaded the village in the early hours of Sunday, firing gunshots to create panic before moving from house to house and seizing residents. Sources in the area said the victims were later marched toward routes leading to neighbouring Zamfara State.
The incident has heightened anxiety among residents of communities located along the Kebbi-Zamfara border, an area that has witnessed recurring attacks by criminal gangs in recent months.
Confirming the development on Monday, the Kebbi State Police Command said the kidnapped victims were still being held by their captors as security operatives continued search-and-rescue operations across the area.
