Case has been registered against an Inspector of Police and two constables after a farmer ended his life following land dispute between him and his neighbour.Following land dispute with neighbour Antony Raj, 63, a farmer, P. Pasupathi of Thalavaipuram near Sivagiri in the district filed a complaint with Sivagiri police on May 1.The police advised both Pasupathi and Antony Raj to get surveyed the land under question by a government surveyor and sort out their problem. If anyone of them was not satisfied with the outcome of the survey, the police asked the aggrieved side to approach the court to find legal remedy.When Antony Raj reportedly started construction in the land under dispute even before the survey, Pasupathi filed a complaint again with Sivagiri police, who instructed Antony Raj not to build anything before the survey of the land.Against this backdrop, Antony Raj went to the Sivagiri police station on May 21 after allegedly consuming poison. As the police could smell the pesticide, they immediately rushed him to the Sivagiri Government Hospital for first-aid and sent him to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, where he died on Sunday.Antony Raj reportedly told the police while undergoing treatment in the hospital that Inspector of Sivagiri Police Station Muralidharan verbally abused him and threatened him that he would register case against him after getting sexual harassment case from his neighbour.
