MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Attacks on Energodar employees and infrastructure pose serious security risks to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and could potentially lead to catastrophic consequences, independent nuclear industry expert and head of Atominfo Alexander Uvarov told TASS, commenting on a recent Ukrainian FPV drone attack on a vehicle carrying plant employees.

"Attacks on nuclear plant personnel and the infrastructure of the satellite city pose direct threats to the stable operation of the Zaporozhye NPP. Ultimately, such attacks could lead to a major man-made disaster with consequences extending far beyond the region," Uvarov said.

The expert noted that restoring power to Energodar amid continuous attacks is crucial for ensuring the normal operation of the city’s infrastructure and the nuclear facility’s safe operation.

Earlier, the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant reported that a Ukrainian FPV drone attacked a vehicle carrying plant employees, but no one was injured. Zaporozhye NPP Director Yury Chernichuk also announced the restoration of power to Energodar after four days of power and water supply disruption.

Energodar, the ZNPP satellite city, has been under continuous attacks by Ukrainian forces for a second day in a row. Several vehicles were damaged, but no casualties have been reported, the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant’s Communications Director Evgenia Yashina told TASS earlier. "Energodar is effectively under continuous attack by the Ukrainian armed forces. Yesterday, they attacked throughout the day and night. Explosions have also been heard in various parts of the city since early this morning. Several vehicles are currently known to be damaged. No casualties have been reported yet," Yashina said.
