The second-generation VinFast VF 8 has been officially unveiled in Vietnam.
The new electric SUV was designed to right all of its predecessor’s wrongs.
It’s smaller, less powerful, and has a lower-capacity battery than the first generation. But it’s also cheaper.
VinFast’s expansion into North America has been lackluster, to say the least. Its main product, the VF 8 electric crossover, wasn’t exactly a finished product, prompting the journalists who drove it to use words like “Stinks” and “Yikes.”
However, the company’s fortunes have been better overseas, and now the second generation of the VF 8 is here to try and boost VinFast’s sales numbers even further. It’s a smaller car with a smaller battery than before, so the odds seem stacked against it from the get-go, but the Vietnamese automaker has an ace up its sleeve that might save it.
