PHOTOS: Early morning panic grips commuters amid fuel protest rumours

A semblance of normalcy has returned on major roads across Nairobi and its outskirts following a morning of confusion triggered by rumours of planned protests.

On Monday, May 25, conflicting updates on social media left commuters uncertain about the availability of public transport.

Some users reported disruptions along the Thika Superhighway, particularly around Ruiru and Witeithie, with claims that sections were blocked as early as 3 am.

There were also allegations that groups had mounted illegal toll demands on motorists, forcing some commuters to walk long distances or pay inflated fares.
