As a summer person, this is my time to thrive. Shaking off the layers in favour of lightweight warm-weather hero pieces is what I love most, and while I’ve been a fashion stylist and editor for 12 years – you may be surprised where I’m shopping them from. The supermarket brands – Tu at Sainsbury’s, George at Asda, F&F at Tesco and Nutmeg at Morrisons – have all taken note from the spring/summer 2026 runways, creating affordable iterations of this season’s biggest trends. So you bet my virtual baskets (they’re all available to shop online, aside from Nutmeg) are overflowing with items I want to take on my next trip.
F&F has embraced lace-trim details with a satin slip dress and shorts that are bound to go viral, Nutmeg is making a case for coloured denim and has an alternative wedding guest look – a pink waistcoat and trousers – that’s guaranteed to gain you the crown for best-dressed guest. When it comes to Tu, asymmetric hemlines and peep-toe details are making a comeback and George has called it: forget mesh ballet flats, it’s all about crochet this year (you have to see the £12.50 style).
But it isn’t all about trends. Sometimes you just want to replenish your existing wardrobe with some new season essentials, and the supermarket brands have ticked these off, too. With everything from lightweight co-ords, basket bags and city break-ready comfy stretch-waist trousers, consider this your summer wish list, all courtesy of the supermarket fashion brands that deserve recognition for their amazing new season edits.
