Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis used social media Sunday to congratulate Cyprus’ centre-right Democratic Rally (DISY) after it won the parliamentary election, while also highlighting Greece’s support for the island nation.

DISY, led by Annita Demetriou, came first with 27.2% of the vote, securing 17 seats in the House of Representatives.

“Congratulations to DISY and Annita Demetriou for their election victory,” Mitsotakis wrote on X. “The Cypriots chose stability. I wish the members of the new House of Representatives every success. Greece stands firmly by your side.”

The left-wing AKEL finished second with 23.9% of the vote and 16 seats.

Beyond the traditional two-party balance, the far-right ELAM – an offshoot of Greece’s banned Golden Dawn party – made a strong showing, finishing third with 10.9% and winning eight seats.
