The Mitchell Freeway northbound between Hepburn and Whitfords avenues remains closed this morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in Padbury last night. The incident occurred around 7.20pm.Emergency services arrived and located a 22-year-old male victim with critical injuries. He died at the scene. The alleged driver, 30, left the area but later attended Joondalup Police Station where he was arrested and charged with failing to stop and render assistance and being the driver involved in an incident occasioning death who failed to report the incident to police. He was refused bail and will appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court this morning.
