One California town is in a state of emergency and 50,000 people are under an evacuation order as a malfunctioning chemical tank at an aerospace plant is overheating and could leak or explode.
A 7,000-gallon methyl methacrylate tank at GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove cracked overnight; 50,000 residents remain under evacuation order. The crack may relieve internal pressure and avert an explosion, but spill containment and EPA air-quality monitoring remain active with no return timeline set.
