A nationwide signal outage halted trains for a short period of time on Monday morning.
A KiwiRail spokesperson said it experienced a brief communications outage just after 9am this morning.
“The issue has now been resolved and services are resuming, but there will be some delays. The cause of the fault is being investigated. We apologise for the inconvenience,” the spokesperson said.
A passenger who was on a Wellington train said they were stopped 200m before the Petone platform but no-one knew why.
Reimer said the train guard did not have any information on what had caused them to stop for around quarter of an hour.
