Mamelodi Sundowns line-up for the CAF Champions League Final first-leg at Loftus Versfeld.
State President Cyril Ramaphosa has led the well-wishes for Mamelodi Sundowns to return to South Africa with the coveted CAF Champions League trophy.
Sundowns hold a 1–0 advantage as they head into the CAF Champions League final second leg against Morocco’s AS FAR in Rabat on Sunday evening.
No South African team has won the continent’s premier football trophy since Sundowns last achieved glory under the legendary Pitso Mosimane exactly a decade ago.
The Brazilians came close last season but ultimately fell short at the final hurdle when they were defeated 3–2 on aggregate by Egyptian club Pyramids.
