After 16 years of heartbreak, near misses and fading hope, Bafana Bafana’s return to the FIFA World Cup has reignited excitement across South Africa and now the country’s most loyal supporters are finally getting their moment in the spotlight.

As anticipation builds ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026, South Africans are being invited to prove why they deserve to be crowned the nation’s ultimate Bafana Bafana superfan in a campaign celebrating the supporters who stood by the national team through its most difficult years.

The nationwide search was sparked by a LinkedIn post from Bafana coach Hugo Broos, calling on fans to share their passion for the team.

Supporters are required to submit a 30-second video explaining why they deserve to be named South Africa’s biggest Bafana Bafana superfan by posting the clip on social media and tagging @CastleLagerSA. Entries close at midnight on 1 June 2026, after which six finalists will be shortlisted.

The winning supporter will play a central role during the World Cup campaign period, attending fan viewing events, participating in watch parties and helping rally support behind Bafana Bafana as the team prepares for its biggest football stage in more than a decade.
