MANILA, Philippines — All 14 Filipino crew members of the Singapore-flagged container MV Maersk Valparaiso are safe following the vessel’s collision with oil tanker Lady Martina in Onne Bonny River, Nigeria on May 20, the agency of the seafarers confirmed.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency has activated its emergency response procedures in coordination with the pilot and other authorities.

With this maritime collision being the second in just two days, the DMW has sternly reminded maritime stakeholders to ensure the safety of vessels carrying Filipino seafarers.
