Image: Tanja Heino / YleYle News16:46President Alexander Stubb says that the war situation in Ukraine looks much better from Kyiv's perspective than at any time since Russia’s full-scale invasion more than four years ago."The first year of this war was a fight for survival for Ukraine. After that, three years of resilience. Now it's pure mathematics. We’re now in a situation where one fallen Ukrainian soldier is equivalent to eight fallen Russian soldiers," he said."In addition, the popularity of the war in Russia is declining, meaning that Ukraine currently has the upper hand," the president added. He made the comments while responding to questions from the public on Yle’s Radio Suomi on Sunday afternoon.Finland condemns Israeli minister's behaviourStubb was also asked about Israel’s treatment of international activists detained while attempting to deliver aid to Gaza by sea.Earlier this week, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir released a widely condemned video showing humiliating treatment activists from the captured aid flotilla.Three detained Finnish activists who returned from Israel on Saturday said they had been subjected to violence and degrading treatment.Asked whether Finland intends to discuss the issue with Israel, Stubb replied: "yes, definitely. Finland condemns the Israeli minister's behaviour towards the activists – it was completely unreasonable and contrary to international rules."
