Andhra Pradesh Government is on high alert on Ebola virus and will be screening travellers coming from affected countries, including Congo, Uganda and Sudan in the three international airports in the State.
The government was taking measures ensure coordination of the State Health Department with with Airports Authority of India for conducting medical tests based on the travel history of the passengers in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tiurpati international airports, State Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav said in Amaravati on Sunday.
The Government has already arranged isolation wards in the teaching hospitals of the three cities with international airports and kept testing kits and medicines for treatment ready, the Minister said. All the district collectors were directed to be in touch with the district health workers down to the level of villages with virtual meetings.
Visakhapatnam Port authorities were also put on alert and steps were being taken to monitor international travellers from the affected countries who would reach the state by road, Yadav said.
