An Indian travel vlogger’s Instagram video showcasing a hotel room in China costing just ₹1,100 per night has gone viral, surprising social media users with the facilities available at the price. Instagram user Anant, who runs the handle @onroadindian, shared a tour of what he described as a “loft room” in Chengdu, a major Chinese city. Comparing Chengdu to Ahmedabad in terms of size and scale, he said the accommodation was located near the city centre and cost him ₹1,100 per day. At the beginning of the clip, the vlogger said in Hindi, “Come, let me show you how China is living. What all can China give you for just ₹1,100? Take a close look.” The video showed several amenities in the room, including a washing machine, refrigerator, induction stove, kettle, towels and a compact bathroom. The accommodation also featured a sofa seating area, a large television and a duplex-style upper floor with a bed and chandelier. Anant highlighted the projector setup near the sleeping area as one of the room’s most notable features. “Put up the projector screen here, connect your device, and watch whatever you want,” he said. Vlogger clarifies hotel cost after confusion online While sharing the video, Anant wrote that despite inflation and expensive accommodation, tourism-related stays in China remained comparatively affordable. He also noted that Chengdu was a large city located near the city centre. After some users questioned whether the quoted amount referred to yuan instead of Indian rupees, the vlogger clarified in the comments section that the room cost ₹1,100 and not 1,100 yuan. “A lot of people are confused. This is a hotel I booked (Loft room) in Chengdu in City Centre and it only costed me ₹1100 per day. If needed, I can share the booking receipt. Anyway, enjoy travels,” he wrote.Social media users compare China and India hotel prices The video triggered widespread discussion online, with several users comparing hotel infrastructure and accommodation prices in India and China. One user commented that although Chengdu may be smaller than cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, it still appeared better than most Indian cities, including Mumbai and Bengaluru. Another user said they had paid around ₹1,500 per day for a hotel room in Chennai that only offered air conditioning and two beds without similar aesthetics. A third user remarked that the room shown in the video appeared better than some Indian hotels that charge between ₹2,500 and ₹2,800 per night.
