CANNES, France — The closing ceremony of the 79th Cannes Film Festival delivered the fashion goods, as stars arrived on the Croisette in sharply tailored suiting, archival couture and high jewelry statements that capped another edition of the event.
The film “Fjord” was the sole winner of the Palme d’Or from a rather indecisive — or generous — jury that otherwise gave out a lot of shared honors. The jury was headed by South Korean director Park Chan-wook, which included Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Stellan Skarsgård, Ivorian-French actor Isaach De Bankolé, director Chloé Zhao, Chilean director Diego Céspedes and Belgian filmmaker Laura Wandel.
Juror Moore wore a custom Balenciaga green column dress with a billowing cape and white opera gloves, paired with Chopard jewels, while Zhao wore a red dress from Gabriela Hearst. Negga was dressed in Christian Dior, also paired with Chopard jewelry.
Norwegian actress Renate Reinsve wore a custom look from Louis Vuitton. The actress, who starred in Cristian Mungiu’s “Fjord,” wore a two-piece ensemble featuring a black silk crepe open top paired with hand-embroidered low-waist trousers covered in silver sequins, finished with metallic pumps. She accessorized with white gold and diamond Tumbler bracelets and a matching ring from the house’s high jewelry collection.
