Sameemah Jacobs has been released on R4000 bail in the Bellville Magistrate's Court.
Alleged baby snatcher, Sameemah Jacobs, has been warned by a Magistrate that she will be held in contempt of court should she not remove her pardah during the commencement of her trial at the Bellville Magistrates Court.
An adamant Jacobs challenged the presiding Magistrate that her religion forbade her to remove it in the presence of males, while the officer of the court argued that it did not govern over the rules of the courthouse.
Dressed in a black Muslim top and black pardah, Jacobs stood in the dock, protesting against the removal despite being warned that she could be held in contempt of the court.
“Miss Jacobs, please remove the bottom part (pardah) that covers your face; otherwise, I am going to make an order. If you do not, I will hold you in contempt of court. This is a warning to you,” said the Magistrate.
