ALBAWABA - Tens of thousands of people march in protest against the Socialist Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, demanding his resignation.Seven police officers were injured in clashes with the protestors marching in the capital after a series of corruption scandals involving the Spanish PM, a small group tried to breakthrough the police barriers surrounding the PM's residence.The police detained masked people on the main roads leading to the PM's residence, three people were arrested. Protestors walked with banners marked with "Resignation of the socialist mafia" and "March for Dignity", the latter organized by the Spanish Civil Society association, alongside them, leaders from the opposition party and the far-right party Vox took part in the protests.On Tuesday, a court in Spain announced that the former socialist PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero was under investigation for being the head of a money-laundering and influence-peddling network, cementing the unfavourability of the leftist government of Spain, though he denied any wrongdoing.The current PM considered resigning in April 2024 after an investigation was opened into his wife Begoña Gomez, but decided against it stating that the attacks on him and his family were politically-motivated by far-right elements in Spanish politics. A Spanish prosecutor asked the investigating judge to close the case last month.Organizers said that 80,000 people took part in the protest while the government put the number at half that stating at 40,000.
