Winnie è una giovane Labrador mix arrivata al Joplin Humane Society dopo essere stata trovata come randagia. Aveva solo sei mesi ed era, sulla carta, il tipo di cane che di solito viene adottato rapidamente: dolce, socievole, già sterilizzata, pronta per una nuova famiglia. Eppure, qualcosa si è inceppato. I giorni sono diventati settimane, e le settimane si sono trasformate in mesi.
La vita in rifugio e l’attesa che non si spiega
Mentre altri cani venivano scelti e portati a casa, Winnie restava lì. Sempre presente, sempre gentile, sempre pronta a interagire con chiunque si avvicinasse. Non c’erano segnali particolari che potessero spiegare quell’attesa così lunga. Era semplicemente una di quelle storie che nei rifugi accadono più spesso di quanto si pensi: cani che passano inosservati nonostante abbiano tutto quello che serve per essere adottati.
@megankirkk I was so excited to see that Winnie was adopted yesterday!! it is heartbreaking to see the dogs that live the first few months of their lives in the shelter- but often they are adopted relatively fast. that was not the case for Winnie. she was found as a stray and spent the last 3.5 months in the shelter waiting for her turn. she is the sweetest and most happy girl I couldn’t believe week after week she was still at the shelter.
