TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company PLN Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Aceh has imposed rotating power outages in several areas to maintain system reliability. “Currently, PLN is implementing load management in several regions across Aceh Province, and power restoration will be carried out gradually,” PLN UID Aceh Communication and TJSL Manager Lukman Hakim said, as quoted by Antara on Sunday, May 24, 2026.He explained that the load management is being applied in connection with efforts to restore the Sumatra electricity system after the disruption of the 275 kV Muara Bungo-Sungai Rumbai transmission line due to extreme weather. "This step is taken in a measured manner to maintain the reliability of the system and expedite the gradual restoration of electricity," he said.According to him, the electricity restoration for the Aceh region will be carried out gradually. "We hope that the public will remain patient because the team is currently working in the field to normalize the electricity throughout Aceh," he said.PLN urges the public to remain calm.
