The nation marked National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival with an eight-day holiday that ended Wednesday. Travelers made 296 million trips on average each day during the first five days of the break, up 5.4% year-on-year, preliminary data show. Rail trips were up 4.1% during the period, while flight trips increased 3.9%. Road trips surged 5.9%, with officials predicting car rides will account for roughly 80% of all travel over the holiday
