File copy: Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has said it has yet to receive the N2bn pre-action notice filed by Aichatou El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged defamatory statements made against her by the anti-graft agency.
Aichatou, through her legal representatives, issued the pre-action notice to the Chairman of the ICPC following the publication of a press statement titled, “Clarification on the Access Control Protocol at ICPC Headquarters, Abuja,” released on May 18, 2026.
According to the notice, the lawyers argued that portions of the statement, which was read by ICPC spokesperson, John Odey, were defamatory and had caused significant harm to her reputation.
But reacting in a phone interview with Sunday PUNCH, Odey said he had yet to receive details of the suit.
