The Nigerian Railway Corporation has raised fresh concern over renewed attacks on railway infrastructure in Plateau and Bauchi states, warning that the incidents pose serious threats to public safety, economic growth, and national security.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the NRC Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, described the development as “a direct attack on critical national infrastructure, public safety, economic growth, and national security.”
The NRC disclosed that one of the latest incidents occurred on May 21, 2026, when a truck allegedly loaded with vandalised railway materials got stuck between Kuru and Science School, Kuru, in Plateau State.
According to the corporation, the incident exposed “the dangerous activities of criminal elements involved in the destruction and illegal movement of railway materials.”
