Adults fighting on the sidelines and in car parks has led to children’s rugby league games across Waikato being cancelled on Sunday.
Waikato Junior Rugby League announced all fixtures associated with its competition had been called off following what it described as an “unacceptable increase” in poor behaviour at Hopuhopu in recent weeks.
The decision prompted a wave of frustration online, with many expressing anger that adult behaviour had resulted in children missing out on sport.
