A shooting was reported outside the White House on Saturday and Secret Service members reportedly rushed reporters to shelter. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now,” she wrote on X.The alleged shooter was shot by Secret Service and moved to a hospital. A bystander was also reportedly injured. Law enforcement rushed to respond to the shooting outside the White House, the Associated Press added. The Secret Service noted they were aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, near the White House.“We are aware of reports of shots fired near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW and are working to corroborate the information with personnel on the ground. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available,” they said. Per colleague ‘It was a lot of gunshots. We are all safe inside’.”An NBC News reporter added that around 20-30 shots were fired. “UNSHOTS heard outside of the White House. Approximately 20-30. Secret service told those of us gathered on the north lawn to run inside the press briefing room,” the journalist wrote.Another video showed law enforcement officials control the scene in the aftermath of the shooting. Several vehicles with sirens blazing could be heard after shots rang outside the White House.The Washington DC police department said “U.S. Secret Service is working an incident in the intersection of 17th and Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest. Please avoid the area.”The shooting outside the White House comes close on the heels on the shooting at the White House Correspondent's Dinner event where there was an assassination attempt on President Trump.
