The Five Palm Event Centre in Lekki, Lagos, came alive on Wednesday night as politicians, business leaders, royal fathers, and entertainment stars gathered for a surprise 50th birthday celebration in honour of entrepreneur and politician, Shina Peller.
What was initially planned as a private and low-key celebration quickly transformed into an elaborate affairs, as guests were said to have flown in from across Nigeria, Canada, and the United Kingdom to honour the celebrant.
The elaborate surprise was kept tightly under wraps until Peller arrived at the venue and walked into a hall filled with friends, associates, and well-wishers.
The event was hosted by comedians, Ushbebe and DeStalker; while fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, provided live musical performances that electrified the atmosphere.
Opening the evening, one of the organisers and long-time associate of the celebrant, Summy Smart, delivered an emotional welcome speech describing Peller as “a man who lives for others,” a statement that set the tone for the night’s tributes.
