Sudan’s Higher Education Minister Urges Universities to Cut Tuition Fees

As the current civil war enters its third year devastating the economy as well as the country, Sudanese Higher Education Minister Ahmed Madawi Musa has urged universities to cut tuition fees. The Minister praised Khartoum’s University of Medical Sciences and Technology’s decision to reduce fees by 30 percent to help students while encouraging them to continue their studies at home.

The exceptional circumstances facing the country required coordinated official and community effort to keep education going and he urged other Sudanese universities to take similar action.
