New Zealand racing Hall of Famer Chris Waller joined rarefied air on Saturday when he trained his 200th Australian Group 1 winner.
Birdman’s Doomben Cup success put Waller alongside legends of the sport, Tommy ‘TJ’ Smith and the ‘Cups King’, Bart Cummings, as the only trainers to have reached the milestone.
An emotional Waller briefly reflected on his journey, telling the broadcast, “I think what I’ve done is show that anything is possible, I’ve got a good team and I respect that team.”
“Anything is possible when you’ve got confidence and good horses,” he added.
