Mr Olusegun Osinkolu has said that his emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party senatorial candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District will boost the party’s chances in the June 20 governorship election.
Osinkolu said this was in view of the decision of his supporters across party lines particularly in Ekiti North Senatorial District comprising Oye, Ikole, Moba, Ilejemeje and Ido-Osi local governments to queue behind him to ensure victory of PDP governorship candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede.
The Media Consultant to Osinkolu, Ahmed Salami, said in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Saturday that the politician’s emergence as National Assembly candidate for the January 2027 election, was “a major political development already generating excitement across the North Senatorial District and a great boost to the PDP governorship candidate’s victory chances”.
Osinkolu, a former All Progressives Congress Chieftain, dumped the party recently citing lack of fairness, inclusiveness and internal justice and after consultations opted for the PDP senatorial ticket.
Salami said, “Osinkolu’s defection to the PDP has since continued to attract widespread reactions within the political space in Ekiti State, particularly among youths, women groups, artisans, community leaders and political stakeholders who see his entry into the PDP as a major political gain for the party ahead of the governorship election.
