The 43 year old actress' previous credits also include Patrick Melrose and The Devil's Hour.A synopsis for the new series teases: "Set in Greece, Two Weeks in August tells the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life. But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare.", reports the Daily Star."Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up."When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame."Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play? We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods..."Where was Two Weeks In August filmed?Although the series is set in Greece, production actually took place in Malta and Gozo last year, standing in as a convincing Greek backdrop.Discussing the decision to use the Mediterranean island as a substitute location, executive producer, creator and writer Catherine Shepherd said: "Malta is a stunningly beautiful place, which is very important to the story, because it's about trying to find paradise - a place of escape where all worries and anxieties disappear.Article continues below"The island has a dramatic, rugged landscape and, like Greece, is steeped in thousands of years of ancient history; it truly has everything. Filming there has been wonderful."The island is a character in its own right; it is beautiful, but a bit dangerous. When things get difficult for our characters, it won't be there to protect them."Two Weeks In August airs Saturday nights at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
