Seventeen-year-old Mackenzie Shirilla was driving at 100mph when she slammed into a brick building in Strongsville, killing boyfriend Dominic Russo, 20, and friend Davion Flanagan, 19, on July 31, 2022.What initially appeared to be a tragic accident was revealed to be premeditated murder after detectives investigated the wreckage. The Netflix documentary The Crash explores the volatile relationship at the centre of the case.Shirilla claimed she had no memory of the moments before impact, but prosecutors successfully argued she intentionally crashed the car. She was found guilty on all counts, including murder.Judge Nancy Russo sentenced her to two concurrent 15-years-to-life prison terms, calling her "literal hell on wheels". The judge said: "This was not reckless driving. This was murder." Concurrent sentences mean Shirilla serves both life terms at the same time rather than one after the other.Shirilla is now serving her sentence at Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville. Shirilla's concurrent sentence behind bars means she could serve less time compared to consecutive sentencing, but she could still potentially spend the rest of her life in prison, as there is no fixed release date attached to her case. She won’t be eligible for parole until 15 years into her sentence, which will be in October 2037 when she is 33 years old. Shirilla previously told the court in an emotional statement: "I am so deeply sorry. I hope one day you can see how I'd never let this happen or do it on purpose."READ THE FULL STORY: What was Mackenzie Shirilla's sentence as The Crash documentary lands on Netflix
