The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Gorb Aleksandr, has been handed over to Ho Chi Minh City police for further investigation, according to Cong An Nhan Dan newspaper.

Police said the arrest came after many passengers reported missing belongings and luggage while collecting bags at the airport’s international terminal.

On April 13, officers noticed Aleksandr acting suspiciously in the baggage claim area of the terminal and began monitoring him.

After more than 30 minutes of surveillance, officers spotted him allegedly stealing two suitcases from two separate flights.

When Aleksandr attempted to leave through the airport’s pick-up area, he was stopped by police officers and taken in for questioning, VTV reported.
