President Donald Trump seemed really bummed on Friday over the reaction to the Department of Justice’s billion-dollar “Anti-Weaponization Fund” ― and wondered why he wasn’t being praised for his selflessness. In a post on his Truth Social platform, the president griped about the lack of appreciation he’s getting for not going through with his $10 billion lawsuit against his own government, and instead allowing the DOJ to create what it calls “a systematic process to hear and redress claims of others who suffered weaponization and lawfare.”Trump noted that he “gave up a lot of money in allowing the just announced Anti-Weaponization Fund to go forward, and insisted he “could have settled my case, including the illegal release of my Tax Returns and the equally illegal BREAK IN of Mar-a-Lago, for an absolute fortune.”He then noted that “instead, I am helping others, who were so badly abused by an evil, corrupt, and weaponized Biden Administration, receive, at long last, JUSTICE!”Despite Trump’s claim of selflessness, and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s belief that Americans “want their tax dollars spent on things like that,” few others support Trump’s “slush fund” for his supporters, er, Anti-Weaponization fund.“Patently unlawful,” is how one former DOJ official described the bill to HuffPost. “What the memo is contemplating is patently unlawful.”Considering that on Friday The New York Times called Trump’s fund “an episode of presidential corruption so blatant and threatening to constitutional order,” it’s no wonder that his brazen appeal for praise was brutally ridiculed on social media.“I could have kept the whole $2B that I plundered from the taxpayers for myself. Instead, I was kind enough to give some of it away to folks who beat the fuck out of cops!” https://t.co/iBJIrsu1Ku— Hutch (@hutchinson) May 22, 2026That's weird; he told reporters he had nothing to do with the fund. Now he's saying he gave up a lot of money "allowing" it. https://t.co/vx8l26EmCD— Definitely Danny (@SemperWry) May 22, 2026
