HAMBURG, May 22 : South Korea's Major Feedmill Group (MFG) purchased an estimated 135,000 metric tons of animal feed corn in an international tender on Friday, European traders said.• A first consignment of up to 68,000 tons was bought at an estimated $272.39 a ton cost and freight (c&f) plus an additional $1.50 a ton surcharge for additional port unloading. Seller was believed to be trading house Pan Ocean with the grain for September 30 arrival in South Korea.• The second consignment of up to 67,000 tons was bought at an estimated $272.00 a ton c&f plus an additional $1.50 a ton surcharge for additional port unloading. Seller was believed to be trading house CJ International with the grain expected to be for October 5 arrival in South Korea.• The first consignment was sought for shipment between August 22-September 10 if sourced from the U.S. Pacific Northwest coast, between August 2-August 21 from the U.S. Gulf, July 18-August 16 from South America or August 12-August 31 from South Africa.
• The first consignment was expected to be sourced from either South America or South Africa. If from South America, only 50,000 tons need be supplied.• The second consignment for arrival in South Korea around October 5 was sought for shipment between August 27-September 15 if sourced from the U.S. Pacific Northwest coast, between August 7-August 26 from the U.S. Gulf, August 2-August 21 from South America or August 17-September 5 from South Africa.• If the second consignment is sourced from South America, the full 67,000 tons should be supplied or only 55,000 tons if sourced from South Africa.• The tender continued brisk Asian demand for corn this week. • Reports reflect assessments from traders and further estimates of prices and volumes are still possible later.
