MOSCOW, May 23. /TASS/. Western Europeans need to understand that the world has changed, and there are other countries that want to have the same opportunities, Miguel Angel Moratinos, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the UN Alliance of Civilizations, said in an interview with TASS.
"Western Europeans have to understand that the world has changed, and that there are others that want to really share and participate, and to be at the same level, with the same capacity to live together. So I think that the address, the focus, and the approach that the Russian Federation is doing with the Alliance is good because we are on the way where we can identify what unites us and what divides us," he said.
Moscow has been very active and supportive of the Alliance of Civilizations from the very beginning, and the interest has only grown over the past two years, Moratinos said. "I’m sure that we are preparing the new world. The new world is going to be, as I call it, multipolar. And the only way to really create a sense of one humanity, as we are one humanity, is to, at the same time, accept different cultures, different civilizations, different identities, different religions etc. And if you don’t understand that, if you don’t support that, it’s very difficult because you cannot impose one religion or one civilization to the other," he stressed.
