A sex determination racket was unearthed in Narnaul following a joint operation by health officials and the local police, leading to the arrest of one accused. The action was carried out on Thursday following intelligence inputs. A team led by deputy civil surgeon Dr Harsh Chauhan conducted a decoy operation; a female team member posed as a pregnant woman and contacted the accused for a sex determination test. The accused has been identified as Kalyan, a resident of Dhantari village in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district. He allegedly took the decoy woman on his motorcycle to a secluded location near Narnaul and conducted the test, later indicating through gestures that the foetus was male.After the test, the pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (PCPNDT) team arrested the accused near on National Highway-11 under a flyover.Officials said cash, a mobile phone, a motorcycle and other items were recovered from his possession. During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that the racket had been operating for a long time in the Haryana-Rajasthan border region and was involved in conducting illegal sex determination tests.According to police a case has been registered under various sections of the PCPNDT Act and relevant sections of the BNS along with provisions of the Medical Council Act.
