In a tweet referencing Arsenal’s showing, Iran in Ghana, the official ‘X’ account for the Embassy of Iran in the African country, mentioned how the club won the title after “22 years of patience” by trusting the “process”.It went on to add that the club “clearly studied some country’s playbook” and that an Arsenal insider said that country’s name rhymed with “he ran,” possibly a direct reference to Iran’s name.
Referring to its own history since the 1979 Iranian Revolution, it went on to add that the club’s players “never ran” but “built their own ‘arsenal’, trained their own ‘gunners’ and trusted their own process for 47 years.Arsenal is referred to as “Gunners” owing to its origin story, linked to munitions workers in Woolwich, South-East London. It also features a cannon on its logo.The post by Iran in Ghana ends by saying a certain golf-loving leader heard “process” and asked for extra processed cheese on his burger without showing any “patience”. This appears to be a reference to how US President Donald Trump has perennially issued deadlines to end the ongoing conflict, even threatening obliteration and destruction of Iranian civilization.On Thursday, Trump said the US would end the war “very quickly” while claiming Tehran is purportedly ready to reach a deal.Arsenal fans also pointed out that the reference to its Premier League winIronically, Arsenal had in December 2024 sacked its long-time kit-man, Mark Bonnick, for expressing support for Palestinians in Gaza.
