PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur — Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the 2026 Palarong Pambansa is set to open more opportunities for young Filipino athletes as the country’s biggest scholastic sporting event introduces new sports, broader representation, and updated competition policies, backed by Agusan del Sur’s extensive preparations for the national games.
With final venue preparations completed and support systems in place, Angara expressed confidence in the province’s readiness to welcome around 11,000 learner-athletes from across the country for the opening of the games on May 24.
“Palarong Pambansa continues to evolve alongside the aspirations of our learners. This year, we are opening more spaces for participation, recognizing more forms of athletic excellence, and creating a competition environment that is fairer and more inclusive for every student-athlete,” Angara said.
