The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Olakunle Nafiu, has announced that henceforth, the scheme’s anniversary celebration would become an annual event across all formations nationwide to recognise excellence, dedication and outstanding service among staff and corps members.
Speaking at the command performance and anniversary lecture commemorating the 53rd anniversary of the NYSC in Abuja on Friday, the DG said the celebration would also serve as a period of reflection and testimony on the contributions of the scheme to national development.
According to him, members and staff who distinguish themselves through meritorious service, integrity and exceptional productivity would henceforth receive certificates of merit during the celebrations.
“I am pleased to announce that the celebration of the NYSC anniversary shall henceforth be a piece to analyse as an annual event across all formations, nation wide. The celebration will serve not only as a period of reflection and testimony, but also as an avenue to recognise and reward excellence, dedication and outstanding service among members of staff,” he said.
The NYSC boss reaffirmed management’s commitment to repositioning the scheme in line with contemporary realities and national aspirations, with emphasis on corps members’ welfare, security and strategic communication.
