African football has produced several memorable stars at the FIFA World Cup, with many players leaving their mark through historic goals and standout performances on the global stage.

From Cameroon legend Roger Milla to Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan and Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa, a number of African footballers have written their names into World Cup history with crucial goals for their countries.

The former Ghana captain is Africa’s all-time leading World Cup scorer with six goals in 11 matches. Gyan scored in three different tournaments — 2006, 2010 and 2014 — and played a key role in Ghana’s run to the quarter-finals in South Africa in 2010.
