The General Manager of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Benin Region, Charles Iwuamadi, has emphasised the need for people at the grassroots to support the Federal Government in tackling the vandalisation of power installations across the country.
This is just as the TCN Managing Director urged residents to stop building or putting structures under power installations, warning of the grave danger and disastrous consequences, including death, associated with violation of this rule.
Iwuamadi, represented by Assistant General Manager, Technical Services, TCN Benin Region, Matthew Ariyibi, made the call on Friday at an engagement with members of the Itele community in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The TCN boss stated that the activities of vandals disrupt power supply across the country, while funds that could have been spent on other developmental projects are deployed to fix damage caused by them.
He said the campaign became necessary because transmission facilities located in rural communities remain vulnerable to vandalism and illegal activities.
